Product Description

Original antique map of Illinois. This authentic vintage map of Illinois comes from Jeremiah Greenleaf's (1791-1864) New Universal Atlas. Printed by G.R. French at Brattleboro Vermont in 1844 using engraved plates. A hard to find map especially in this very good condition. Strong paper and very vivid hand coloring make this rare map of Illinois a unique piece of Illinois history. Greenleaf had acquired the rights to David Burr's New Universal Atlas of 1836 and reissued from 1840 on adding many updates to the maps such as new counties and railroads - ref. Rumsey. The total paper size is approximately 14" x 12". A fine addition to any collection or a great Illinois antique map gift.
