This original antique map of Northern Africa including present day Egypt and Libya stretches from the Atlas mountains to the Nile River and comes from the Atlas De Toutes Les parties Connues Du Globe Terrestre --- of 1780 with maps by Rigobert Bonne. This map has multiple folds as issued with a blank verso (reverse side). The fine hand made paper, when held up to the light, displays the makers watermark and the fiber alignments can be seen. This atlas was designed to accompany Guillaume Thomas Raynal's Histoire Philosophique & Politique des Etablissemens & du Commerce des Europeans dans les deux Indes. This was a multi-volume approach to the study of geography and industry of the time. The volumes were published by Pellet in Geneva 1780. These maps are a rare glimpse into the history of the many countries and kingdoms of the time. Old and vintage maps also make great gifts.
